Interior design and cover for memoir, 2018. Primary intent of publishing was for print, with a Kindle version for wider distribution. An Adobe PDF was submitted to CreateSpace. The original Word manuscript was then exported to filtered HTML, cleaned up, edited in Sigil and converted to Kindle format using Kindle Previewer’s bundled version of Kindlegen.
The layout of this short inspirational book features block paragraph formatting with a highly legible body font and generous leading for enhanced readability. Because it’s a collection of articles that use subheads for organization, the table of contents includes them to make sections easy to find and discuss.
Chapter titles and subheads were set in Playfair Display, a cheerful font with high contrast, ball terminals, and a huge x-height. It has a slightly condensed appearance that worked well for long headings. The same font is assertive enough to stand out on the cover.
The author has published other books and articles for clergy and church communities and has served in churches in North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Florida. This book is also available free to Kindle Unlimited subscribers.
