MakeUseOf offers some excellent free manuals and guides for many popular apps and devices. They’ve earned my respect and I just downloaded Your Unofficial Kindle Fire Manual by Christian Cawley. The download is free in exchange for a Tweet, Facebook share, or a simple Google +1. Fair enough. The manual is in PDF format and […]
About eBooks and eReaders
On December 27, 2010, Amazon announced that the third-generation Kindle is “the bestselling product in Amazon’s history, eclipsing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7).” On Christmas Day, The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo was the most purchased and most gifted Kindle book on amazon.com. See my embedded sample below, for The […]

Share Kindle highlights on Facebook
Did you know that you can highlight an interesting passage in a Kindle book, and then share your thoughts about it on Facebook or Twitter? Highlighting has been available on the Kindle for a while, but in mid-2010, Amazon added the hook to social networks. The information in this post is as old as the second generation […]
eInk vs backlight
Did you know that you need a booklight to read a Kindle, or most other dedicated eBook reader devices, in a dark room? If not, that’s something to consider when evaluating your hardware options for reading eBooks. Personally, I like a backlit screen, and wonder how I would adapt to a low-contrast eInk device. That’s […]
